The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is excited to share new and expanded teen opportunities. These programs are designed to support leadership development, career exploration, conservation education, and real-world skill building for students with a wide range of interests and goals.
Program Highlights:
Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Camp | Grades 7–12: A hands-on leadership experience for students interested in working with younger campers while building teamwork, communication, and responsibility skills. Camp registration opens tomorrow for Zoo members, so timely sharing is appreciated.
Teen Leaders for Conservation (TLC) | Ages 14–18: A free, highly involved leadership and education program for teens who care deeply about wildlife, conservation, and community engagement. Because of the level of commitment and responsibility required, we strongly encourage guidance counselors to recommend students who are dependable, motivated, and actively involved in their school or community.
ZooGuides | Ages 16–18: Paid education interns who engage Zoo visitors during peak seasons while gaining professional workplace skills and STEM-related experience. This program requires a letter of recommendation, and we welcome recommendations from teachers or counselors who can speak to a student’s communication skills, reliability, and readiness for a professional role.
We believe these programs are especially impactful for students who thrive with hands-on learning, leadership opportunities, and meaningful community involvement. Your support in identifying and encouraging students who would benefit from these experiences makes a tremendous difference. The information can also be found on our website here: Teen Pathways at the Zoo.
