Smithsonian Science for the Classroom is a fully integrated STEM curriculum developed by the Smithsonian Science Education Center. It is designed to engage students in phenomena-based learning through coherent storylines and connect students to the world around them. Dr. Carol O’Donnell explains how a five-year study impacting 60,000 students confirmed that experiential STEM learning with Smithsonian Science leads students to problem solve, collaborate, reason from evidence, and achieve higher scores on science performance-tests. |

Amplify Science blends hands-on investigations, literacy-rich activities, and interactive digital tools to empower students to think, read, write, and argue like real scientists and engineers. The program was developed by UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science. In each unit, students take on the role of scientist or engineer to investigate a real-world problem. These problems provide relevant contexts through which students investigate scientific phenomena, engage in collaboration and discussion, and develop models or explanations in order to arrive at solutions. |
