Military Information

MILITARY INFORMATION

Students interested in enlisting with any of the Military Services should follow similar procedures for investigating and finalizing your decision of which branch to enlist with as do students searching for colleges. It is important that you understand all of the facts regarding enlistment in a United States Military Service. At the sites below you can get in touch with recruiters, discover some of the jobs available in the military, and learn about the educational benefits you may be able to receive. Training varies in length and may include on-the-job training, classroom instruction, or both. If interested in enlisting in a branch of the Armed Forces, make sure to research all your options before committing.

Pre-Application: If you are interested in one of the academics listed above, in the spring of your junior year write to the admissions office and request a pre-candidate kit, or apply online. You should receive general information about the institution, specific information on admission procedures, requirements and a pre-candidate questionnaire. Complete the questionnaire and submit a copy of your high school transcript to begin your file at the academy.

Additional Military Sources of Funding
Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Scholarships- the Armed Forces offer ROTC programs at many major colleges and universities. Syracuse University is an example with both Army and Air Force ROTC on campus. ROTC Scholarships are a great way to help finance your college education and you'll begin your service immediately following graduation as a commissioned officer in the Armed Services of your choice.

New York National Guard Education Service
Residents of the New York State who are in good standing in the State Military Forces (Army and Air National Guard and Naval Militia), may be eligible for a maximum of $4,350 per calendar year to pay the cost of undergraduate tuition.
