Three staff members receive the Laker Way Award in December!

Each month The Laker Way award is given to a faculty or staff member(s) who has been nominated by one of their peers for going above and beyond in their job and their service to others.  There were three recipients in the month of December!  

Kevin Blowers – Maintenance Crew (not available for picture)
I would like to nominate Kevin Blowers for the 110% award. Kevin is a team player who has a do it right the first time attitude and the knowledge and work ethic to back it up. Not only does Kevin have a strong work ethic, Kevin communicates and understands the urgent and non-urgent issues here at Skaneateles Central schools. He exercises caution when needed and also is available for any issue that may arise.  Since Kevin has started here at the district he has never said or implied once that this is not my job, or that it can’t be done. Kevin is always willing and available when called upon no matter what the task. Kevin is a pleasure to work with and a person that keeps me grounded, focused and fully understands the goals and the vision, that the maintenance department is striving to get to. This is why I am nominating Kevin Blowers for the 110% award. If it were 200% I would nominate him for that.
Kevin thank you for joining our team and thank you for all you do! You Sir are top shelf and I look forward to building the best maintenance department in school history with you. With what you bring to the table, there is no doubt in my mind that this is going to happen.
 
Amy Tormey – ESL Teacher
I would like to nominate Amy Tormey.  Amy does so much for her students both in and out of school.  During a home visit, she found that the family had no beds and not much furniture.  She immediately sent out requests to people in the community to help this family.  Her students are a big part of her already huge heart.  Her positive attitude, willingness to help and compassion make her an excellent addition to our staff, and a perfect champion for our ELL students. We, and our students, are so lucky to have her!
 
Barb Wilmer – Custodial Supervisor (not available for picture)
Although she doesn't begin her day until most people are ending their's, Barb makes our evenings run smoothly.  From preparing the school for opening the next morning to setting up and breaking down the night's activities, she is accommodating to all our guests every evening. When something needs to be done, Barb is the first person people turn to and is often dropping what she is working on to provide assistance where needed.  We all appreciate her efforts and pleasant demeanor.
