Middle School Daily Announcements
Friday, May 25,  2018 - A Day

 
  • NO ACTIVITY PERIOD TODAY due to the holiday week-end.
  • The 8th ANNUAL SKANEATELES A CAPPELLA CHOIR FESTIVAL is tonight at 7:00 PM at the Driver Middle School in Marcellus. 
    • There will be a $2 admission fee to help cover the cost of the clinician and guest performers.  The doors will open 6:30 PM. 
    • The students will have the opportunity to work with guest clinician, Jeff Walker, who is the director of the SU Vocal Jazz ensemble at Syracuse University.
    • Our guest performers will be "The Guerrillas", a male A Cappella group from SUNY Fredonia.
    • The evening will include Performances by:
      • OUR OWN Middle School Select Choir and A Cappella group - The Middle C's
    • Skaneateles High School Acappella groups, Chamber Choir and Madrigals
    • PERFORMERS - **  BUS LEAVES SKANEATELES AT 2:30.  NO RETURN BUS.  **
    • The next student activism meeting will be on Tuesday, May 29th during AP in Mrs. Usifer’s room.
  • Skaneateles MS is holding summer camps for:
    • 3D Design & Printing Camp for students entering grades 6-7 in the fall.  Teacher:  Heather Buff
    • Mad Scientist Camp for students entering grades 6-8 in the fall.  Teacher:  Rich Allen
    • StageKIDZ for students entering grades 6-9 in the fall.  Teachers:  Leia Depeche & Daniel Kringer
    • Registration will close and payments are due on Friday, June 29th.

    • Attention MS students: Interested in having your drawing grace the cover of the 2018-2019 student planner? Stop by the main office or Mrs. O'Hara's room to pick up an entry form! All forms need to be submitted to Mrs. O'Hara (and the Laker Club) by June 4th.
    • If you need honors or volunteer hours, the Modified Track Team needs timers and people to help measure and record field events:  Tuesday May 29, and Friday June 1.  Modified Tracks meets are right after school and usually finish at 6:00.  See Mr. Guy or Mrs. Hamilton if you are able to help! 
    • Skaneateles Country Club is offering a Sail School Program this summer.  Any student interested in registering may pick up a form with details in the main office.

Project 2021 Progress Continues to Move Forward: SKANEATELES, NY (May 22, 2018) – The Skaneateles Central Schools Board of Education recently held an informational meeting for the community which provided further details on the district’s upcoming capital improvement project known as Project 2021. MASH Camps Offered for 7th & 8th Graders: Summer MASH Camps One of the BEST WAYS to see inside the field of health care is to attend a MASH CAMP.    These camps are open to students currently in   7 and 8 th grades (going into 8 th and 9 th grades).   MASH Camp, or the Medical Academy of Science and Health, is a fun two or three day camp for students to explore health careers. Students Recognized at Annual Honors Convocation: SKANEATELES, NY (May 17, 2018) – The accomplishments of more than 70 juniors and seniors were celebrated at the annual Honors Convocation at Skaneateles High School on Monday, May 14. Seniors received a variety of awards, including senior distinction awards in every subject area.  Fifty-two seniors, who will graduate with Honors and Honors with Distinction, were congratulated and presented with the special cords they will wear at graduation. SMS Students to Attend Darien Lake Music Fest: SKANEATELES, NY (May 16, 2018) – Seventh and eighth grade students in Skaneateles Middle School’s Band, Chorus and Orchestra programs will take part in the Darien Lake Music Festival on Friday, May 18.
