At Skaneateles High School, students are encouraged to explore careers in any way possible....through parents and family friends, special programs and courses, and actual job shadowing that is arranged through school. The key: EXPLORE!! Test things out. Step out of a traditional school day. Talk to people in various careers. Think about your skills and interest. Imagine yourself in the future!

Job Shadow Kick Off Program for Juniors 
October 2, 2018- 4th period
High School Auditorium 
The keynote speakers will be seniors who explored careers last year through the voluntary Job Shadow Program  and other opportunities including internships, camps, field trips and in-school sessions with professionals.)

Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), a business and entrepreneurial program for middle and high school students.
Cayuga Community College Auburn Campus
The program begins in October on a weekly basis on Wednesday evenings and runs for eight months. 
YEA! is an entrepreneurial program that provides students an opportunity to launch their own business or nonprofit agency. Working individually or in a group, students will develop an idea, pitch the proposal to potential investors and then actually start their own business. Students will take weekly courses with a member of Cayuga’s faculty, visit community businesses and learn from local guest speakers. Since the national program started in 2004, YEA! has helped the launch of more than 6,000 student enterprises.
Applicants must interview before being admitted to the program, and all applications include an essay. Applications are due September 15th.

Crouse Hospital Offers Innovative Career Exploration for Students 
CHOICES meets in Marley Education Center, 765 Irving Ave. Syracuse, NY 
Thursday evenings, 7:00- 8:30 p.m. 
Each year Crouse Hospital offers a series of monthly programs about a variety of health careers. Meetings are once a month October through April. Students age 14 and older are invited to register. 
Information and applications can be downloaded below. Registration must be handed in to Mrs. Michel and postmarked no later than October 15, 2015. 

Note to parents, guardians or community members: 
Many of you do interesting things and represent a wide variety of careers spanning all occupations and industries. Could a student shadow you for a couple of hours someday? Or would you be willing to come talk with student(s) with interest in your career? This is not an immediate commitment, we will save your information for future possibilities! Thank you for considering and making a difference in our students' future career exploration!!
