Annual SHS Blood Drive on February 28 to Honor Sam Ciraolo

SKANEATELES, NY (February 15, 2019) – The annual Skaneateles High School Blood Drive is set for Thursday, February 28, honoring former SHS Health teacher, Sam Ciraolo.

The drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Skaneateles High School gym.  All representing donors will receive a free t-shirt.

Permission slips are needed for students to donate.

Contact Karen Price at kprice@skanschools.org to make an appointment to donate.  All members of the community are welcome.  Your blood donations could help save up to three lives.

To honor Sam Ciraolo, the American Red Cross is providing a generous $250 scholarship to a deserving Skaneateles High School senior.

The annual Blood Drive, along with certification in Basic First Aid and CPR at SHS began in the mid 1980’s under the vision and guidance of Ciraolo.  Using his class as a platform for community involvement and volunteerism, students had an opportunity to recognize that they too can make a difference in the lives of others.

Sam would be pleased to see students and staff at SHS continue to recognize the importance of hosting the annual Blood Drive.

This year, we will acknowledge a dedicated senior who supports the mission of the American Red Cross in its collective effort in the giving of life and volunteerism.
