Haunted Hallways 10th Anniversary! Haunted Hallways 10th Anniversary!: Ahoy Mateys! Get ready for a Pirate Adventure as Haunted Hallways returns celebrating a decade of "spooking" our community. Our High School Interact Club will present the Pirate themed adventure on Halloween night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the high school. Please use the Commons entrance only. The Skaneateles Rotary Club will once again greet you with Cider and Donuts. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. Proceeds will go to hurricane victims through a District Relief Fund set up by The Rotary Foundation to assist communities in the hardest hit districts in North Carolina and Florida.

State Street Students Build Character Strengths at Orenda Springs State Street Students Build Character Strengths at Orenda Springs: SKANEATELES, NY (October 22, 2018) – State Street Intermediate students returned to Orenda Springs last week to enjoy the outdoor experiences associated with the Marcellus experiential learning center. Boys & Girls Soccer, Football in Sectionals this Week Boys & Girls Soccer, Football in Sectionals this Week: There will be two home sectional games this week as Boys Soccer takes on Mexico on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Football takes on Chittenango on Friday at 7 p.m. Girls Soccer will be in sectional action this week on the road versus Chittenango on Thursday at 6 p.m. GO LAKERS!        
SHS Students Experience Visual & Performing Arts in NYC SHS Students Experience Visual & Performing Arts in NYC: SKANEATELES, NY (October 15, 2018) – For the fourth year, Skaneateles High School students traveled to New York City for a one of a kind experience in visual and performing arts. From October 5-7, Skaneateles High School teachers Jessica Sawchuk, Aisha McConochy, Lauren Wiese and Kate Webster guided students in grades 10-12 through the Big Apple to a host of different venues. The group visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, saw Wicked on Broadway, watched students films at the AMC Theater in Times Square and spent time at the 9/11 museum. “This trip is meant to inspire students by experiencing the visual and performing arts in a multitude of ways and to see, first hand, the diversity, history and beauty of New York City,” said Sawchuk.   ...

SCS Takes Part in Fire Prevention Week SCS Takes Part in Fire Prevention Week: SKANEATELES, NY (October 10, 2018) - Skaneateles Central Schools are taking part in Fire Prevention Week from October 7-13, with students in Waterman Primary School learning from local firefighters. Today, Waterman first graders not only learned about smoke detectors and detector maintenance, but also had a chance to see two firefighters dress in full gear.  The Skaneateles Firefighters stressed the importance of trusting your local firefighters and not being frightened of their gear or their arrival.  They are coming to help you in the event you cannot escape on your own. SMS Student Council Completes Successful Drive Thru Fundraiser SMS Student Council Completes Successful Drive Thru Fundraiser: SKANEATELES, NY (October 9, 2018) – The Skaneateles Middle School Student Council presented its 18 th annual Dinosaur BBQ, Gianelli Sausage Drive-Thru Fundraiser on Wednesday, October 3 in front of Skaneateles Middle School. Yet another successful fundraiser featured a menu including a Gianelli Sausage with peppers and onions, a Dinosaur BBQ pulled pork sandwich, and a Carolina Sandwich with pulled pork topped with coleslaw. Each dinner choice came with Dinosaur BBQ style baked beans, coleslaw, chips, and soda or water for only $9. Thousands of schools in the US and Canada have adopted the program. Registration closes on Sunday, October 7! This opportunity is for Juniors to attend a complete and comprehensive SAT/ACT review class here at Skaneateles High School. This 26-hour course, developed by Chariot Learning in Rochester, not only covers powerful content and strategies for every test section, but also includes one full-length proctored practice SAT and ACT, with a full group review session for each. Tennis topped Pulaski 7-0 and Jordan-Elbridge 6-1 last week to continue their dominant season. The 22 nd annual Ride for Missing Children took place on Friday morning with riders stopping at Waterman Primary School for a rest, snack and cheers from students before continuing on their journey. The annual ride benefits The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children with over 400 riders taking part to honor the memory of all missing children, to raise public awareness of the plight of all missing and exploited children and the need for child safety education, as well as to raise funds to support the mission of the NCMEC. Today, all four of our schools received training in the Standard Response Protocol (SRP-X) system. As you can see from the photos, the students were engaged and learned important safety procedures. Keeping our students and staff safe continues to be a priority for the Skaneateles Central School District. We are grateful to Jackie Schildkraut (Associate Professor at Oswego State) and the I Love U Guys foundation for providing this resource for our district.
