Laker Sports Look Back: Girls' Tennis Improves to 11-1 with Two More Victories

SKANEATELES, NY (October 2, 2018) – The month of October is here and Skaneateles High School’s fall sports are at full speed, with the Girls’ Tennis team improving to 11-1 on the season after two victories last week.

Tennis topped Pulaski 7-0 and Jordan-Elbridge 6-1 last week to continue their dominant season.

Rachel Feeney, Hope Allyn and Isabella Kroon once again led the way in singles with Emma Miller, Ella Danforth, Riley Fouts, Bridget Neumann, Marin Doyle, Gracie Lee, Olivia Walker and Sophia Soderberg handling doubles.

The Football Lakers continued their unbeaten run, moving to 5-0 after defeating the Institute of Technology Syracuse Central Eagles by the score of 49-16.

Quarterback Patrick Hackler threw for three touchdown passes and rushed for one while Areh Boni ran for two touchdowns.  Luke Viggiano and Cody Nesbitt also scored for Skaneateles.

The Lakers next go on the road to take on Solvay this Friday.

Boys’ Golf split action last week, beating Cazenovia and falling to CBA.  Tynan Jones led the team in both contests as the team moves to 9-5 overall.

Boys’ Soccer went 3-1 last week scoring wins over Phoenix, St. Francis DeSales and Bishop Kearney.  Their lone loss came to Henninger on September 29.

Thomas Reed, Alex Arefeyev, Sam Gadjo, Michael Lovier, Levi Carvahlo, Tylar Moss, Jack Panasci and Landon Hellwig all scored for the Lakers who now stand at 9-3-1 on the season.

Girls’ Swimming split contests last week, beating Baldwinsville and falling to Liverpool.

Elizabeth Springer, Alice Spaulding, Grace King and Lily Buchholz won the 400 yard freestyle medley relay against Liverpool.

Springer, Buchholz, Rory Comer and Ivy Carter won the same event versus Baldinwsville.

Girls’ Volleyball went 2-1 on the week, jumping to 8-3 on the season.  Wins came against Hannibal and Hamilton, with a loss to Homer.  Lily Delasin and Maeve Canty were among the top performers in both contests. 

Boys’ Cross Country defeated Cazenovia and won the McQuaid Invitational last week.  Caleb Bender was the top performer in each event.

Girls’ Cross Country lost to Cazenovia and finished second in the McQuaid Invitational last week with Georgia McSwain as the top runner.

Lastly, Girls’ Soccer went 1-1 on the week beating CBA and falling to Chittenango.  Sarah Bailey, Fallon Lynn and Tess Peterson scored in the victory.
