High School's AP Chill Zone Provides Relaxation, Stress Relief:
High School students spent their Activity Period in the “AP Chill Zone” on Thursday.
Over 30 students filled the Counseling Center for this month’s theme of giving back. They hand-crafted Valentines for our Kindergarten classes, and enjoyed pizza and prizes with their friends.
Future AP Chill Zone events will provide students with useful tools and tips in a variety of areas such as relaxation, stress relief, social skills, and more!

'Star of the Week' Welcomes K-9 Unit to Waterman:
Second grade student William Clancy was the "Star of the Week" in Joanne Williams' classroom.
His wish was to invite his relative, State Trooper T.J. McDonnell in to visit the second graders and tell them about his work with the K9 unit. Trooper McDonnell visited Waterman to share what he and his dog Mic do as community helpers.
Trooper McDonnell discussed the role of his trained search and rescue dog, and how he and Mic help his community. This visit was not only fun and interesting, but it also supports the second grade curriculum as students have begun learning about communities, community helpers and identifying those who provide a service or who are a producer of goods. SCSD Forum Provides Updates on Project 2021, Safety & Security:
SKANEATELES, NY (February 5, 2019) – The Skaneateles Central School District held a Community Forum on Wednesday, January 30 inside the high school’s auditorium hosted by Superintendent of Schools, Lynda Quick.
The Forum addressed several items within the district including updates on Project 2021, safety & security, as well as the fiscal status of the district.
Project 2021, the district’s $36.5 million capital improvement project approved by community members in November of 2017, received approval from the State Education Department for its Phase 1 plans in January of 2019. With that approval, the project will go to bid in February of this year with work estimated to be completed during the summer of 2019.

SKANEATELES, NY (February 5, 2019) – Skaneateles Central Schools welcomes parents, guardians and community members to Johnny Angel's in Skaneateles on Thursday, February 7 for Coffee Talk with new Superintendent, Lynda Quick, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Providing coffee and conversation, Coffee Talk is an opportunity for community members to share ideas, learn about new District initiatives and projects and ask questions.

The Skaneateles Central School District will be holding a Community Forum on Wednesday, January 30 inside the Skaneateles High School Auditorium at 7 p.m.
Forum topics include Project 2021, Safety and Security Upgrades, Program and Staffing Strategies, Fiscal Management as well as the Six Dimensions of Wellness.

State Street Student Art Featured at Schweinfurth Art Center:
SKANEATELES, NY (January 24, 2019) – Schweinfurth Art Center’s “Both Ends of the Rainbow” exhibit is featuring several pieces of art from students at State Street Intermediate School.
The annual exhibit showcases approximately 1,000 pieces of artwork in total by regional K-12 students.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience displaying their art in a professional museum,” said Skaneateles Schools Elementary art teacher, Sue Barry.
Located at 205 Genesee St. in Auburn, the Schweinfurth Art Center is a non-profit gallery which offers five exhibitions each year featuring regional, national, and international artists.

Dr. Bob Corona Featured in Job Shadowing Speaker Series:
On January 17th, neuropathologist Dr. Bob Corona was a guest on behalf of the Skaneateles High School Job Shadowing Program.
Dr. Corona has several leadership roles at SUNY Upstate Medical University , including his current posts as Chief Executive Officer for Hospital Affairs of Hospital Administration, Director of Neuropathology/Muscle Pathology, and Director of Pathology Services at UH. In addition, Dr. Corona advises residents, teaches pathology and lab medicine, and directs the hospital's pathology lab, employing about 250 people.

SIT to Conduct Food Drive During Wizards Game on February 25:
SKANEATELES, NY (January 23, 2019) – Skaneateles High School's School Improvement Team (SIT) will be conducting a food drive for the Skaneateles Food Pantry as part of the highly anticipated Harlem Wizards basketball game inside the Skaneateles High School Gym on February 25.
In addition to working to better Skaneateles High School, SIT has also made an effort to increase its charitable contributions to the community. After the success of its Thanksgiving food drive, SIT wishes to continue with its support of the Skaneateles Food Pantry during the Wizards show in late February.

Help Support Skaneateles Runway Formal Wear 'Pop-Up Shop' for Students:
SKANEATELES, NY (January 15, 2019) - Community members can help support Skaneateles High School's Skaneateles Runway Formal Wear 'Pop-Up Shop' by dropping off used formal or semi formal wear to the Skaneateles Central Schools District Office, located at 45 E. Elizabeth St.
Students will be able to donate clothing and receive a coupon for a free dress, or they can purchase a formal gown for $20, or semi-formal wear for $5-$10 at the 'Pop-Up Shop' on February 9.
Items available include formal and semi-formal wear for girls and boys. All accessories will be $1.
All proceeds will go to fund the Prom this Spring.

SAT/ACT Intensive Class Opportunities Now Available:
Skaneateles High School is offering SAT/ACT Intensive Class opportunities through Chariot Learning of Rochester.
This opportunity is for juniors to complete a 26-hour comprehensive SAT/ACT review class at the high school, which not only covers powerful content and strategies for every test section, but also includes one full-length proctored practice SAT and ACT, with a full group review for each.
Skaneateles students will receive a special rate and should call (585) 466-4022, or e-mail mike@chariotlearning.com to register ASAP.
