AP Exam Update and Guidelines April 7

IMPORTANT: Given the current Covid-19 crisis in our nation, we are adjusting our policy that typically requires all AP students to take the corresponding AP exam. Instead, this year, STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO TAKE THE TEST, OR TO CANCEL their registration and be refunded (course titles on transcripts will NOT be impacted if student’s choose not to test)
  • STUDENTS WISHING TO CANCEL THEIR REGISTRATIONS AND BE REFUNDED WILL NEED TO DO SO BY LOGGING INTO THE TOTAL REGISTRATION WEBSITE AND CANCELLING THEIR TEST- see email from Total Registration with instructions
  • Students will receive communication from CollegeBoard regarding how to access exams
  • Students who have testing accommodations that have already been approved by CollegeBoard will be able to utilize those accommodations and instructions will be sent from CollegeBoard regarding how those will work
  • If testing from home, students will be testing on their own devices, and should choose carefully (Is testing on a cell phone a good option or would another device such as a computer or tablet potentially be easier?)
  • If any student needs access to a computer or internet, they should contact their school counselor ASAP
  • The adjusted testing formats will be used regardless of whether students are testing in school or from home
  • CollegeBoard is offering free AP classes online and free review
  • CollegeBoard has created a testing calendar (May 11-22). If there are any students who cannot test in the approved window, they should email their school counselor as soon as they are aware of the issue. If possible, students should test on the regular date so that there is a makeup test available in June should they need it (i.e. unforeseen technical issue)
  • Teachers will receive student's exam responses two weeks after test dates    ?
  • CollegeBoard will be releasing materials for students to practice new testing formats
  • Students should consult the AP testing guide if there is an issue with at home testing
  • Exams will cover only materials that are typically taught within the first 3/4's of the year
  • For most subjects, the exams will be 45 minutes long, plus an additional 5 minutes for uploading. Students will need to access the online testing system 30 minutes early to get set up.?
  • Most exams will have one or two free responses questions that will each be timed separately. Students will need to write and submit their responses within the allotted time for each question (students will be able to type and upload respons?es, or write by hand and submit a photo via their cellular phone)
  • If you have questions about the format for your specific AP exam, please visit CollegeBoardorg or consult with your AP teacher for additional information
