Skaneateles Fourth Graders Preparing for 'Holiday Giving'

SKANEATELES, NY (November 28, 2018) – State Street Intermediate School’s fourth grade class is once again working together this holiday season, giving back to the community with its annual ‘Holiday Giving’ calendar of events.
 
Following two years of build-up, the entire fourth grade is joining into the program this year with students beginning several days of activity on Monday, December 3.
 
The fourth grades ‘Giving Calendar’ begins with a book drive on December 3 before creating holiday decorations to hang inside of State Street Intermediate School on December 4.
 
Holiday cards will be made on December 6, this time for the seniors living at The Athenaeum in Skaneateles.
 
On December 7, students are being asked to bring in a small stocking stuffer to help support the Skaneateles Outreach Program.
 
The following week is another busy week as students are choosing something from their ‘Basic Needs’ list to bring into school for the Samaritan Center of Syracuse on December 10.
 
The next day on December 11, students will decorate a holiday tree with classmates at school which will be donated to The Athenaeum.
 
Cookies are due for the Cookie Drive on December 13, while a coin collection will be held for the Golisano’s Children Hospital on December 14.
 
A food drive will be held on December 18 for the Skaneateles Food Pantry, with the ‘Giving Calendar’ drawing to a close on December 20 with a Pet Supply Drive for the ASPCA in Auburn.

Holiday Giving Calendar

Monday, December 3 – Book Drive
Find two or three gently used books that you could donate to children in need.

Tuesday, December 4 – Holiday Decorations
Create holiday decorations to hang at State Street School.

Thursday, December 6 – Holiday Cards
Create holiday cards for the seniors at The Athenaeum.

Friday, December 7 – Stocking Stuffers
Bring in a small stocking stuffer to support the Skaneateles Outreach Program.

Monday, December 10 – Basic Needs
Choose something from the basic needs list and bring it in for the Samaritan Center of Syracuse.

Tuesday, December 11 – Holiday Tree
Decorate a holiday tree with classmates at school to be donated to The Athenaeum.

Thursday, December 13 – Cookie Drive
Bring in a dozen cookies.

Friday, December 14 – Coin Collection
A coin collection will be held for Golisano’s Children Hospital.

Tuesday, December 18 – Food Drive
Bring in a can or plastic container of spaghetti sauce, Spaghettios or Beffaroni, Mac and Cheese or pancake mix.

Thursday, December 20 – Pet Supply Drive
Bring in a pet item for the ASPCA of Auburn.
