Laker Sports Look Back: Football Tops Westhill 49-6; Improves to 3-0

SKANEATELES, NY (September 17, 2018) – More than a dozen different Lakers contests took place last week, with the Varsity Football team continuing their run in a dominant 49-6 victory over Westhill on Friday.

Quarterback Patrick Hackler accounted for five scores on Friday with three touchdowns on the ground, one through the air, as well as an interception return for a touchdown.

Areh Boni rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes from Hackler, including a touchdown.

Luke Viggiano added an interception return for a touchdown in the victory, as Skaneateles moves to 3-0.  Ranked third in the state, the Lakers return home this Friday versus Bishop Ludden.

Girls’ tennis picked up two wins last week over Westhill and Manlius Pebble Hill.  Rachel Feeney, Hope Allyn and Isabella Kroon won singles matches as the Lakers improve to 5-1 on the season.

Boys’ soccer continued their winning ways, moving to 4-1-1 overall with victories over Homer, Jordan Elbridge and Mexico.  Nine different Lakers scored goals last week with Thomas Reed scoring versus Home and J-E.

Girls’ Volleyball also picked up a pair of wins last week, topping Jordan Elbridge and LaFayette.  Jesse Patalino had five aces and 19 kills against J-E with Lily Delasin netting five aces and 43 assists over LaFayette.  The team improves to 4-2 overall.

Boys’ Golf went 1-1 last week, beating Phoenix and losing to Westhill.  Tynan Jones and Ben Spinelli were the top performing Lakers in each contest.  Skaneateles moves to 5-3 on the season.

Girls’ Swimming & Diving also split contests last week, topping Syracuse and falling to Mexico.  Lily Buchholz, Elizabeth Springer, Lili Winkleman and Alice Spaulding were individual winners.

Girls’ Soccer now stands at 3-3 on the season with a victory over Hannibal and a loss to Marcellus.  Tess Peterson, Fallon Lynn, Claire Raddant, Riley Brogan and Maggie Newton scored versus Hannibal with Grace Kush making 19 saves against Marcellus.

Girls’ Cross Country fell to Marcellus last week, with Boys’ Cross Country picking up a win.  Ellie McSwain and Caleb Bender were top performing Lakers in the contest.
