State Street School goes Red

There was a sea of red at State Street School Friday, February 3, when students and staff dressed in red for national Wear Red Day.  Heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined.  The day brings awareness and raises funds to combat heart disease.  Students pictured here are from Heather Buff's fifth grade class.


Juniors inducted into NHS

Fifty six Skaneateles High School juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society in a formal ceremony on January 30 in the high school auditorium.  They pledged to uphold the four pillars of NHS – scholarship, leadership, character and service – while lighting candles that represented their membership to the society. The Junior High School All County Festival was held at Skaneateles Middle School and High School over the weekend, filling the school with the sound of music and packing the auditorium for a culminating concert. SHS staff and students support WinterFest by giving and by jumping Skaneateles High School staff and students raised nearly $400 to help a team of teachers take part in the Polar Plunge at Winterfest in Skaneateles on Saturday.   The talent of Skaneateles High School artists was showcased at the annual Central New York Scholastic Art Awards last week when students won a total of 56 awards. Anti-bullying program promotes kindness

Sixth graders sign a contract vowing to be kind.
After a morning of intense conversations and activities led by high school students, sixth graders at Skaneateles Middle School recently signed contracts promising to work to combat bullying. The pledges they signed were personal, because they came up many of the specifics themselves during an annual program called Be Cool Not Cruel.
