MIDDLE SCHOOL DRAMA
The Skaneateles Middle School Drama Club produces a musical each year. This year's production will take place on Friday and Saturday, February 3rd and 4th at 7:30 pm in the High School Auditorium.
Any 6th through 8th grader is welcome to audition. Auditions will take place in mid-November. Students will need to sing a song for the audition. Any student interested in auditioning for The Magic Carpet character will need to do a dance audition.
Rehearsals are Monday through Friday from 3:00 until 4:30 pm. Students need to arrange for their own ride home. Main characters will be needed each day. Ensemble characters usually meet twice per week. There will be two Saturday rehearsals (usually 10 am until 2 pm).
Students are encouraged to participate in Pat Rickard's Drama Workshop, an after-school activity that focuses on all aspects of drama. The Fall/Winter workshop will pay close attention to audition skills and preparation for the February musical.
The 2006 production will be Disney's Aladdin, Jr. The Story: Aladdin takes place in Agrabah, City of Enchantment, where every beggar has a story and every camel has a tail! Favorite characters are here in this stage adaptation of the Disney hit, including Aladdin, Jasmine, and of course, the Genie. Filled with magic, mayhem and flying carpet rides, audiences' spirits will soar with excitement. Most of all, is the tuneful, Academy Award-winning score with songs including "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me." Other songs: Arabian Nights, One Jump Ahead, Why Me, and Prince Ali
Students will also be needed for stage crew, sets, and publicity.
Any parent who would like to be involved in this production should contact Mrs. Anna. Help is always needed, particularly for costumes and set design.
