Skaneateles Chamber Orchestra
SCO is a string orchestra open to any Middle School or High School string student who can pass an audition and/or who studies their instrument privately.
The goal and focus of this ensemble is to promote outstanding musicianship, to develop a high-level string group for those of outstanding ability and to add to the culture life of our community by off-campus performances and/or at school functions.
Audition Requirements
1. One movement of a work, or etude, prepared prior to audition date.
2. Preparation of three short orchestra excerpts.
3. Sight-reading
Rehearsal Schedule and Performances
Upon acceptance into SCO, students must sign a contract accepting responsibility to be at ALL rehearsals on Monday and Wednesday afternoon activity periods, 2:30-3:05. A students will be allowed three excused absences throughout the course of the school year. Students accepted into SCO must maintain a solid academic average to participate.
