Board of Education Announces Search Process for Vacancy

At its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, Board President Michael Kell announced that he and his family are moving out of the area, resulting in a vacancy on the Skaneateles Central School District Board of Education.
 
During its “process review” segment at the November 2, 2021 Regular Meeting, the Board discussed appointing one of the finalists from the September-October 2021 board member search process. 
 
As a reminder, when an unexpected vacancy occurs on any board of education, the school board’s options are to: 1) leave the seat vacant until the next election; 2) hold an election; 3) ask the community to apply and interview for the vacancy; or 4) appoint a board member until the next election.
 
President Kell will remain a Skaneateles Board of Education member until December 31, 2021. With only five meetings remaining until the May 17, 2022 election date, the Skaneateles Board has decided the most responsible course of action is to appoint a finalist from the September-October 2021 search process at its next regularly scheduled meeting.
