Five SHS Students Recognized for DI Athletic Commitments
SKANEATELES, NY (April 29, 2019) – Five Skaneateles High School seniors were recognized on Thursday afternoon for their commitment to playing Division I athletics next year.
John Danforth (Lacrosse-Lehigh), Patrick Hackler (Lacrosse-Yale), Olivia Navaroli (Lacrosse-Duke), Cregg Scherrer (Baseball-Albany) and Nathan Wellington (Football-Syracuse) joined family, friends, teachers and coaches on Thursday in the Skaneateles High School cafeteria for photos and to celebrate their commitments in 2019-2020.
“At Skaneateles we believe interscholastic athletics in the public-school system is an outgrowth of the physical education and health program and therefore an integral part of the total educational program,” said Skaneateles Central Schools Director of Student Wellness, Activities & Athletics, Stephen Musso. ”The interscholastic competitive environment provides an opportunity for participants to learn vital life skills, values, and ethics in a climate that demands, dedication, responsibility, self-discipline, cooperation, a strong work ethic, and respect for others. This program offers an opportunity for all to share commonalities, celebrate differences, and appreciate physical competition as a lifelong process.”
