Letter from the Board: Board of Ed Accepts Superintendent Resignation

Dear Parents, Staff, and Shareholders of the Skaneateles School District:
 
We are writing to inform you that, this afternoon, the Board has accepted the resignation of School Superintendent Kenneth Slentz, who has served our district for the last four years. Mr. Slentz will be assuming a Superintendent post elsewhere in New York. Out of respect for that district, we’ve agreed to withhold details until they’ve had a chance to notify their school community.
 
The Board of Education wishes to thank Mr. Slentz for the extensive knowledge he’s afforded us in improving curriculum and programming, systematizing and stabilizing our budgetary processes, and spear-heading future construction known as “Project 2021”, among other initiatives.  Mr. Slentz is leaving us in a forward-moving position of stability, as we diligently and immediately delve into the superintendent search processes.
 
Rest assured, as school board representatives, we are carefully working to avoid interruptions to our educational processes, as well as academic planning for the coming school year. We intend to keep communication lines open as we maintain fiscal responsibility in locating the best candidates possible. Mr. Slentz will be with us through part of the summer and we’ll keep you informed as information emerges.
 
As we embark on this exploratory search phase, we look towards opportunity. Our Skaneateles school system offers a phenomenal chance to work for a high-achieving district in one of the most desirable communities and landscapes around.  We appreciate your partnership in the work, and are optimistic in what the future holds for us.
