SHS Football Moves to State Championship Friday
(November 20, 2017) - For the first time in school history, the Skaneateles Lakers Football team will play in the Class C State Football Championship on Friday versus Holy Trinity in the Carrier Dome at 6 p.m.The Lakers advance to the state title contest after a full throttle matchup against Cleveland Hills, which saw Skaneateles come out on top by the score of 63-56. The victory marked the highest combined point total (119) in a playoff game since the state championships began in 1993. The previous high was 115 set by Iroquois and Eastridge in the 2004 Class A quarterfinal.
Amazingly, there were 70 points and 10 touchdowns scored in the second quarter alone.
Lakers quarterback Patrick Hackler once again put on a show in the victory, running for five touchdowns and throwing for four more. Hackler accounted for 660 yards of total offense.
