Anna, Kringer Earn John A McLeod Vanguard Award for 2017

Micheal Kringer and Colleen Anna are the 2017 recipients of the NYIDE John A McLeod Vanguard Award.  The award will be presented at the Community of Color Honors Awards Gala this Friday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn.

SKANEATELES, NY (February 8, 2017) – Members of the Skaneateles High School and Middle School Drama and Music departments will be recognized during Friday’s New York Institute of Dance & Education Community of Color Honors Awards Gala at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn, as Colleen Anna and Micheal
Kringer will receive the 2017 John A McLeod Vanguard Award.

The annual Gala will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Anna is the chorus and music instructor at Skaneateles Middle School and also directs the Middle School musical.  This year’s presentation is “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.” which will take place in the Skaneateles High School auditorium from March 30 – April 1.

A 16-year member of the Skaneateles Middle School music department, Anna also taught in Cazenovia for three years prior.

Kringer is the Director of the Skaneateles High School Choral program as well as the High School Drama program.

A veteran of the Skaneateles music and drama department since 1988, Kringer has begun promotion of the High School’s Drama Club production of “The Addams Family”, running from March 2-5 in the Skaneateles High School auditorium.

“We hope you’ll join us on Friday as we honor Micheal (Kringer) and Colleen (Anna),” said Sean McLeod, President of the New York Institute of Dane & Education.  “Every two or three years we honor those who work unselfishly to make a difference in the lives of others with the Community of Color Honors Award.  These two people are amazingly worthy contributors in this community.”

The Community of Color Honors Awards are presented to a limited and select group of likeminded individuals who have over time been identified as selfless givers to others.

The Gala, which started in 1995, is a fundraiser for one of Central New York’s only African American run professional multicultural dance companies and is an opportunity to meet and interact with fellow regional recipients and embrace the rich artistic history that can be found in the CNY and Finger Lakes regions.

The New York Institute of Dance & Education is a 21st century innovative corporation that harnesses the communications elements of dance, performance, direction and theater to create an operating system for dance businesses, refine alignment structures for the movement industry, and embrace entrepreneurship in significant applications of corporate America.
