Project STAR, Steps Toward Achieving Readiness, is a program that sponsors a variety of events aimed at parents of preschoolers throughout the school year.  Events are advertised in local newspapers and newsletters.  The mission of Project STAR is to ensure that children come to school ready to succeed.  Preschool years are important learning years in which children are prepared physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually for kindergarten.  

Text Box: “Discovery Time”
All parents of children from birth to age six are welcome to visit “Discovery Time” at Waterman School.  Located in Cafeteria B, this area is a place where parents and their children can play, learn and explore together, while independently developing readiness for school.  This free program is open Monday-Friday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m.  It is closed on school holidays.
Text Box: Helping Hands Program
This program is to assist all students who would otherwise be unable to participate in school and community sponsored activities because of lack of financial resources.  Such programs that can be paid for through Helping Hands are:  the purchase of books, school supplies and clothing, treats for birthday parties and cultural enrichment activities.  This program is an outreach program through the Skaneateles Town Board.
