"UNDER THE SEA" MURAL

When you are in our READING ZONE you may feel you have truly escaped to a wonderful watery world! Our "Under the Sea" mural was created by Margaret Middleton, who is a former student of Skaneateles Central School. The idea for the mural came from the large windows in our library that reminded the artist of an aquarium plus the underwater scene fit our Skaneateles Laker theme for the school district. Ms. Middleton created the merchildren as a tribute to Patience Brewster reflecting her illustrations in Merbaby by Teresa Bateman. Patience Brewster spoke to students at State Street School, when Margaret attended and she remembers being inspired by this gifted author/illustrator to become an artist.
