Very Special Visitors to our book club!Tim Green
Tim Green came to our book club on May 27, 2008 to discuss his latest book Football Hero and our 88 students were not shy about ideas for future books they would like this very popular author to write. He shared that his next book is Baseball Champ and he has just finished writing the first draft of a sequel to Football Genius.Author Tim Green was a Very Special Visitor when he joined our eighty-four students for our Books 'n Bagels Book Club Meeting on October 10, 2007 when we discussed Football Genius. This was a unique opportunity to talk with the author about this very popular book. Thank you so much for being so generous with your time, as our students truly enjoyed this very special meeting! Natalie Kinsey-Warnock
On March 27, 2007 fifty-eight members of the Books 'n Bagels Book Club discussed Lumber Camp Library by Natalie Kinsey-Warnock. Then on March 29th this wonderful author joined our book club students and class representatives for a Lumber Camp Library Picnic in the library as part of our Visiting Author Day celebration. These seventy students asked some amazing questions and shared stories with Natalie Kinsey-Warnock, Mr. Widrick, Mrs. Covell, Mrs. Lemp, Mrs. Goodell, Mrs. Lawson, and Mrs. Wulff. Patience Brewster
Fifty-seven students had a delightful surprise when they came to school early for our February Books ‘n Bagels Book Club Meeting to discuss PeeWee’s Tale by Johanna Hurwitz. Patience Brewster, who has illustrated all three of the Park Pals Adventure Series, was our very special visitor! It was certainly a pleasure to have such an accomplished author/illustrator/artist lead our book discussion. She shared the process of reading a manuscript and then formulating an idea of the characters in her imagination. Her detailed sketches really gave us an inside look at the transformation from the beginning seed of an idea for a character like PeeWee to the finished character we admire in the book. Thank you, Patience, for your generosity with your time and talent, as you truly captivated all of the students in attendance. It was a magical morning for everyone! Also, a big thank you to Olivia Shepherd’s mother, Rebecca Dalton, who arranged this special visit and helped to create the unique bookmarks that Patience Brewster brought for all of our students. Be sure to READ the other two books in the Park Pals Adventure Series:
