Date: Friday,
November 21st, 2008 We
Are Learning About
Important: When students are absent, they must stay after school during
activity period the day they get back so they can get caught up in each of
their subjects. If students miss class due to a lesson, they should plan on staying
in the class they missed. J
Science
Mrs. Kerr: (kerrl@skanschools.org) In science this week we completed our
cell processes unit. We learned about
osmosis, diffusion, and cell division.
The students had a quiz Thursday on cellular processes and most did
great! Friday a review sheet for the
unit test was given out. We worked most
of the period on the review sheet. Using
lapsed photography, we were able to observe a cell divide going through the
stages of mitosis. We will go over all
the answers on Monday. The test is
Tuesday. If your child is not going to
be here, please make sure they see me to make arrangements. Happy Thanksgiving!
Math
Mr. Lamphere:
(klampher@skanschools.org) In
math class this week we finished up proportions, including unit rates. There will be a quiz on these topics on
Monday. After Thanksgiving break we will use our proportion skills to solve
percent problems. Have a great
weekend, and since there will be no newsletter next week, let me wish you all a
Terrific
Social Studies
Mr. Braunitzer: (bbraunit@skanschools.org) We are finishing up our work on the Age of Discovery unit. All work should be finished by next Tuesday
and I will be collecting packets at that time.
Students are working on the pink Dutch and English packet in class and
the green Explorers Galore evaluation packet at home. Lots of points to
accumulate in both packets. I am
monitoring their progress as students finish assignments but it is their
responsibility to bring finished work to me to check over. We will start the unit on the 13 Original
Colonies after the Thanksgiving break.
Have an enjoyable holiday with your family and friends.
Language Arts - Mrs. Pohl: (lpohl@skanschools.org) This week we concluded our study of short stories. On Friday, the students will take the short story unit exam. This was a great and interesting unit! After the Thanksgiving recess, we will begin the drama unit. Have a wonderful break!

Language Arts Mr. Williams: (jowillia@skanschools.org) It was a pretty straight forward week.
We read several excellent stories.
There was a unit test on them today.
We had marvelous student participation in class discussions. I am also observing a greater effort being
put forth in their writing. What a great
bunch of students!
Please cut and return the signed slip
