Regents Requirements

Minimum credit requirements for students entering Grade 9 in September 2001 and thereafter is 22 for a Regents or Advanced Regents Diploma.

All students are required to complete the following core curricular credits:

· Social Studies: 4 credits required, including 1 unit in U.S. History and Government and 1/2 unit each in Participation in Government and Economics.

· English: 4 credits required

· Mathematics: 3 credits required

· Science: 3 credits required

· Health: 1/2 credit required

· The Arts: 1 credit required

· Foreign Language: 1 unit for a Regents Diploma; 3 units for the Advanced Regents Designation.

· Physical Education: 2 credits (completed 1/2 credit per year).

Required Regents Examinations:

· English

· Math (2 for Advanced Designation)

· Global History and Geography

· US History and Government

· Science (2 for Advanced Designation)

· Foreign Language: Proficiency at the end of the first year; Regents at the end of third year in consecutive language for Advanced Designation.
