PLAN:

The PLAN is an assessment administered to 10th graders.  The PLAN is a reliable predictor of performance on the ACT.  This assessment evaluates students’ progress in English, mathematics, reading, and science. Students will also self-administer an interest inventory, which will provide them with a detailed World-of-Work Map and self-assessments of educational, and career plans.

The PLAN test is scored on an overall composite scale of 1-32, whereas the ACT composite scale is 1-36.  For more information about the PLAN, please visit their website at www.act.org.

ACT:

The ACT is a group of tests administered and either required or recommended by most colleges as part of the admission process.  The tests measure educational development in English, mathematics, reading, and science and are given at specified test centers throughout the year.  An optional writing test is offered.

Skaneateles High School students primarily take the assessment at Auburn High School, the closest test center. This is a junior test.  Sophomores will take the PLAN test as a practice.  If necessary, students might decide to re-take the ACT senior year.

Students are prepared to take this assessment by taking and doing well in our Regents and Honors level courses. Free test preparation materials can be accessed at www.actstudent.org.  Students can also register for the ACT at the same address.
