College Search Timeline Junior Year
· Focus on your studies; the first set of grades a college looks at is your junior grades. Please do your best!!
· Register for the PSAT/NMSQT administered in October. This assessment is given at Skaneateles High School.
· Meet with college representatives visiting in the Guidance Office during September, October, and November.
· Juniors and their parents are encouraged to attend the Financial Aid Night in January held in the High School Auditorium.
· Use the Guidance Direct on-line program to develop a preliminary list of colleges based on your interests. www.guidancedirect.com (School-ID: 5168156 Password:S74S5131)
· Juniors will meet with past graduates for our annual Alumni Day, held before Christmas vacation.
· In February, counselors will be in junior English classes addressing post-secondary planning.
· During February and/or April break make an official visit to a college.
· When scheduled, take the high school SAT preparation course.
· Take SAT I, ACT, and SAT Subject Tests in April and May.
· In July, check on your first official rank in class and grade point average.
· If you are thinking of playing a sport in college, fill out the NCAA Clearinghouse forms. Go to their website at: www.NCAAClearinghouse.net.
